Mindfulness

Okay, I want to talk about something that is very important to me – well-being and mindfulness.

First of all, the definitions;

MINDFULNESS A mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique. Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you’re mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass by. Mindfulness means living in the moment and awaking to experience.

WELL-BEING The state of being comfortable, healthy and happy.

The reason I wanted to talk about these two things is mainly because it is a very important aspect of my life and it’s a healthy way of living – to be mindful and to consider your, and also other’s, well-being.

I have a book – I’ve featured it on my blog before in my February Favourites post, go check it out – it’s called mindfulness for every day. It’s a little book with mindful thoughts and it has advise on how to be more mindful in everyday life and reminds us how important it is to take out time in your day to just think – let time stop for a moment and be still – there’s nothing wrong with day dreaming. It also has some quotes and here are a few that I love:

“Never be afraid to sit awhile and think”

Lorraine Hansberry

“Be passionate about everyone and everything that enters your life

Wayne Dyer

“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths”

Etty Hillesum

I always take my book around with me – everywhere – just in case I need advice or to just take a break and be reminded that it’s only a bad day, not a bad life.

Some ways to stay Mindful

♦  Write things down – especially at night when your mind is full of everyday from the day

♦  Live for today

♦  Take time out to just breathe

♦  Don’t over do it! – Learn to say no

Mindfulness is one of the most important things – it keeps us sane. Learn to be more mindful and take care of yourself
